The first edition of Rhyming Round Singapore, published in 1998, was written because the authors, both early childhood educators were aware that local children are usually introduced to traditional English nursery rhymes which have little relevance for them.
They decided to devise new rhymes based on the tunes and rhythms of these nursery rhymes which would be relevant and meaningful to young children's experiences of living in Singapore in order to motivate them to learn English and promote their reading skills.
September 21 Enterprise Pte Ltd has recently just embarked in publishing quality childrens books. We were long time supporter and distributor of Rhyming round Singapore so we decided to contact the authors who were pleased to work with us. So after revamping the illustrations and updating the text, this new edition is finally here, just in time to celebrate Singapores National Day!
This edition is crafted with the same love and care as the first and the same hope that children will derive as much enjoyment from reading it as the authors have had in writing it.
