Alan Turing was a British scientist and mathematician.  He was born in 1912.  He showed signs of high intelligence at a young age.  He was especially interested in early ideas about computers.  In WWII, Turning worked for the British government’s code breaking center.  He helped defeat a German code machine, called Enigma.  Afterwards, he helped make several early computers.  He died in 1954.
