Maths World is a theme park where children have fun as well as learn maths. Keith and his friends, Wei Ling, Bala, and Siti visit the park and explore different areas.
The first series will focus on preschool math concepts. As they visit different areas in the park, they explore geometric concepts, number concepts, sorting, and patterns, which are key components of the preschool curriculum in all countries. There are other areas such as a money area where they have a chance to learn about money and different currencies.
The four children in the book represent different ethnic groups. These are the four main groups in Singapore, but they can be found in all countries. As they visit different areas there are questions they have to answer to help develop maths concepts. The questions are an integral part of the book.
The books introduce and develop various concepts. Also, through the questions, there is an opportunity for the child and his or her parents to see if the concept is understood.
Book 1 introduces Maths World and the four basic shapes (circle, square, rectangle, and triangle), and the numbers 1 – 9 and the idea of money. Later books will go into more depth and introduce other concepts. All the books have certain key features that are important to how you or your child reads and uses the books.
This book comes with song and audio narration by authentic voice-over.
