This is an updated third edition of a highly original alphabet rhyme book, specially written for young children. It introduces the English alphabet in rhymes and songs that describe places, landmarks, and other familiar aspects of life in Singapore.

The unique feature of the book is that half of the rhymes and songs can be sung to the tunes of well-known English folk songs and nursery rhymes. The audio brings to life the songs and rhymes through highly entertaining and dramatic portrayal in songs and spoken words.

September 21 Enterprise Pte Ltd is proud to produce the second and now the third edition updated and in augmented reality {AR). It has a new section under "Let's find out". The AR allows you to scan to get the question being read out and scan the second icon to get the answer.

A Note from Kathleen Chia and Linda Gan

Dear Parents and Teachers,

When we first wrote this book we wanted the children of Singapore to enjoy rhymes in English that they could call their own, recorded in a book that was an engaging and fun way for them to learn English and that related to their country. We ‘borrowed’ traditional and familiar rhyme patterns and songs but the subject matter for each of the rhymes was distinctly about Singapore and things within children’s experiences.

We knew how much children love rhymes and as educators, we were very aware of the value of rhyme for tuning children into a new language and easing them into reading. In the same way, children delight in knowing the sequence of the alphabet we linked the rhymes to its twenty-six letters.

More than twenty years on, our objectives remain the same but as Singapore/ keeps re-inventing itself/ is always changing we have had to update the content in line with the progress the country has made. This 2020 edition tries to reflect this in relation to an increased awareness of the natural environment and Singapore’s technological advances.
