This is a delightful tale of the legend behind the creation of Pulau Ubin and Sekudu, two islands in the Singapore Straits. Three friends enjoy each other’s company and one day look to new places and new discoveries. Gajah looks after Babi and Sekudu in many ways, and the care provided by Gajah is a central theme of the story. Vocabulary and imagination are stimulated by the explicit and inferred details built into this creation myth. The story will ignite children’s sense of mindfulness and inferential comprehension as they follow the adventure of three friends who look to greener places but meet with the powerful and changing forces of nature.
